The Office of Undergraduate Admission assembles a freshman class of 1,700 students and a transfer class of approximately 25-40 students each year. We strive to build a class that cuts across a number of dimensions to add to a rich and diverse undergraduate educational experience for everyone. The Office of Undergraduate Admission seeks a Senior Assistant Director of Admission who, under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Admission for Diversity Outreach and External Relations, will administer, implement university and/or interpret department admission policies and procedures.

Your responsibilities include:

    • Reading, evaluating and making first level recommendations on undergraduate applicants to consider for admission based on current university priorities.
    • Managing assigned geographic territory(ies) by researching, compiling and analyzing various demographic data.
    • Create proposal for outreach and present findings to management for recommendation.
    • Acting as project manager on medium to large sized projects/programs by establishing and executing project plans, timelines, tasks, and objectives; e.g., managing the QuestBridge program including implementation, cross-team communication, data management and training for file review.
    • Conducting informational sessions for internal and external communications (e.g., prospective applicants, their parents and high school guidance counselors) on a variety of subjects (i.e., student life, research, internships, athletics, admission), based on university priorities. 
    • Developing, cultivating and strengthening relationships with secondary or university personnel, professional organizations, students, parents and alumni; e.g., foster campus partners including collaboration and programming for outreach and yield efforts.
    • Serving as a resource to other departments; representing unit/department at activities and events, meetings, committees and conferences.
    • Planning and executing domestic campaigns targeting high school students, parents and counselors.
    • Conducting analysis on effectiveness of territorial outreach programs and making recommendations on strategies; e.g., overseeing collection of enrollment data, developing reports and analyses to make recommendations for future program development.
    • Oversight of the hiring and management of student paraprofessionals who will assist with diversity outreach and external relations programs and projects.

In addition, requirements include:

    • Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and relevant experience.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Good reading comprehension skills.
    • Good organizational, planning and time management skills.
    • Ability to learn admission processes and programs.
    • Program planning skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of Slate (preferred).
    • Knowledge of InDesign (a plus).


The expected pay range for this position is $80,000 to $97,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
