The Office of Undergraduate Admission assembles a freshman class of 1,700 students and a transfer class of approximately 25-40 students each year. We strive to build a class that cuts across a number of dimensions to add to a rich and diverse undergraduate educational experience for everyone. We believe that a student body that is both highly qualified and diverse in terms of culture, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, background, work and life experiences, skills and interests Is essential to the educational process and will provide additional contributions and dimensions to the Stanford community.

 

The Office of Undergraduate Admission seeks an Associate Director who, under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Admission for Communications and Operations, will assist in the development and implementation of strategies to conduct outreach and enroll students. The Associate Director will independently administer, implement and interpret university and/or department admission policies and procedures.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Reading, evaluating, recommending and advocating to the Admission Committee on which undergraduate applicants to consider for admission based on current university priorities.
  • Developing and implementing programs and strategies for recruitment of top students, bearing primary responsibility for a specific area of focus (e.g., conducting data-driven territory outreach analysis and developing formal travel and outreach proposals).
  • Developing and delivering outreach programs in local, national and international communities, conducting informational meetings and responding to questions regarding admission and the student experience at Stanford.
  • Developing programs and efforts to cultivate and maintain relationships with secondary personnel, professional organizations, students, parents and alumni.
  • Analyzing needs, developing and managing admission programs and processes (e.g., managing programs and processes in Slate including Deliver, Queries, Reports, various specialized workflows, and the Slate Reader; leading and managing final transcript review for admitted/enrolling students and managing the transcript review team; partnering with operations colleagues on innovating in Slate and leveraging the platform).
  • May conduct quantitative analyses of admission data (e.g., sourcing and analyzing large data sets in Excel, Slate, and Business Intelligence programs).
  • Serving as a public relations and information resource to prospective applicants, secondary personnel, professional organizations, students, parents and alumni, representing University at activities and events, meetings, committees and conferences (e.g., writing and editing communications that range from emails and letters to website content; managing communications projects).
  • Leading project and affinity teams as assigned.
  • Hiring, training and supervising part-time seasonal readers and other staff. Serve as a model and mentor for new and junior-level admission officers.

In addition, requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years (Master’s degree and 4-5 years preferred) of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Valid Drivers License

The expected pay range for this position is $99,000 to $119,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
