Minimum Required Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree and ten years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated cloud infrastructure management and support experience especially focused on GCP
- Experience orchestrating automated solution deployment from the OS (Linux) to the application stack, using tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Jupyter, Open On Demand, and others
- Experience with Big Query
- Experience in Linux systems administration, storage, and networking.
- Strong understanding of cloud technologies
- Comprehensive knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, familiarity with CI/CD and build automation pipelines
- Proficiency using Unix Shell and Python for automation
- Ability to work independently and as a team member; demonstrated self-motivation in learning new technologies
- Excellent communication, presentation and collaborative problem-solving skills.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems.
- Ability to translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture, design and high performing software.
- Ability to define and solve logical problems for highly technical applications.
- Ability to select, adapt, and effectively use a variety of programming methods.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and programming tools.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting academic or government research environments and users
- Experience with Ceph, ZFS and other storage technologies
- Working knowledge and experience with kubernetes cluster administration
- Experience securing compute environments to meet compliance requirements and standards
Physical Requirements
- Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks
- Occasionally perform server installation, troubleshooting and repairs at data center
- Occasionally lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to meet in-person with researchers and colleagues at Stanford research sites or on the Stanford campus
The expected pay range for this position is $158,000 to $185,000.
