Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience (Required):

1. Master’s degree from a recognized conservation graduate program or equivalent training experience in paper conservation.
2. Three years of experience or more in an established conservation lab for a research library or other cultural heritage institution (Associate Librarian)

To be considered at the Librarian level, you must have:

Five+ years of experience in an established conservation lab for a research library or other cultural heritage institution (Librarian)

Education and Experience (Desired):

1. Knowledge of photograph conservation.
2. Experience in an academic research library and work with archival collections
.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of current and historical conservation techniques used to preserve paper, parchment and photographic collections.
2. Understanding of materials science and tools, techniques, and equipment used in conservation of collection materials.
3. Broad understanding of preservation theory and practice and its application in a research library.
4. Knowledge of photodocumentation techniques with digital cameras, imaging and editing software, and other technical equipment.
5. Strong organizational skills with experience working in a high production, high attention to detail environment and project oriented environment.
6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
7. Excellent manual dexterity and critical judgement
8. Ability to lift 25lbs and stand for 8 hours

1. The ability to work well with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across a diverse organization with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations.
