REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- MLS and JD with an emphasis on intellectual property or other advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience in an academic library or other research setting relevant to the role described in this position description;
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in relevant areas, such as scholarly communications, copyright, collections development;
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience working with and supporting academic authors and researchers on scholarly communications concerns and directions;
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience;
- Demonstrated experience in collaboratively coordinating programs and services across departments
- Strong problem solving and shared decision-making skills;
- Experience negotiating with vendors and publishers in advancing new scholarly publishing business models or library acquisitions models;
- Demonstrated experience working with and specifying requirements for information technology, particularly digital repositories, digital archives, and systems supporting the distribution of academic articles to discovery services, discipline-based repositories, and publishers;
- Demonstrated understanding of research processes and experience in the use and implementation of methods for measuring research impact;
- Demonstrated experience collaborating nationally and internationally with stakeholders active in scholarly communications.
Physical Requirements*:
- Constantly sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequently twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
This position is eligible for telecommuting on a weekly basis.
