To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree and seven years of relevant experience in administrative and financial management, or combination of education and relevant experience. Relevant experience includes leading and managing in postsecondary academic, nonprofit, or government environments
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, including principled conflict resolution.
- Excellent strategic planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills. Able to influence people, solve problems, troubleshoot, think creatively, and resolve conflicts.
- Appreciation of value of nonpartisanship in an academic environment and demonstrated capacity to engage diverse stakeholders respectfully.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion values and tactics, and ability to promote DEI with respect to all Center stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, advisory boards, community partners, etc.),
- Advanced financial expertise in accounting, budget planning, and financial forecasting.
- Advanced expertise in grants and contract administration.
- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills. Strong knowledge of industry standards and/or regulatory requirements.
- Strong negotiation and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to: cultivate strong collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and community partners; anticipate various stakeholder needs; demonstrate a high level of diplomacy in influencing many different constituencies at various levels.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced expertise in business and management computer applications and databases.
- Subject matter expertise in area(s) of responsibility:
- Expertise in community and civic engagement in a higher education, non-profit and/or government environment, including research, programmatic trends, and relevant policy.
- Demonstrated experience and skill working with advisory boards and/or boards of directors.
- Fundraising experience and skills, particularly working with individual donors.
- Experience and skill in mentoring students in linking public and community service to their academic and life objectives.
- Ability to work closely with a Faculty Director and staff to create and enhance a vision for the Haas Center, and to develop a strategic model to integrate public service into Stanford’s teaching and research.
- Adaptability so as to work effectively with faculty and administrators to promote public service in the wide range of programs offered at Stanford University.
- Ability to multitask and manage deadlines.

About the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE)
For undergraduates, VPUE is the nexus for programs and initiatives that help students define and achieve their intellectual ambitions at Stanford. These include investigative introductory courses taught by esteemed faculty, targeted classes in writing and rhetoric, undergraduate research support, academic advising and mentoring, overseas and off-campus study programs, and undergraduate scholarships and fellowships. For faculty, VPUE serves as a principal conduit for furthering interaction with undergraduates and discovering ways in which working with students can enrich one’s research agenda.
