To be successful in this role, you will bring:
● A bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. Masters degree in higher education, counseling or student affairs preferred.
● Experience managing professional staff, including hiring, coaching, and mentoring.
● Strong leadership and strategic management skills, ideally in a highly-dynamic environment with multiple constituencies
● Demonstrated success developing and implementing new student-focused programs in a University context
● Deep understanding of event planning and the tools necessary to support less experienced student leaders in successfully executing an on-campus event
● Ability to develop strong relationships with students and other constituents in a warm and professional manner
● Creativity, resourcefulness, initiative, discernment, and a high degree of motivation
● Knowledge and embodiment of diversity and inclusion best practices. Ability to work collaboratively with individuals and groups from various identities, cultures, and backgrounds
● Ability to identify new opportunities for programmatic growth including cross-campus partnerships
● Strong analytical skills and ability to manage complex financial information
● Ability to work gracefully under pressure
● Exemplary communication skills across a variety of audiences, including new students and University leadership
● Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Box, and Google Drive
● Ability to understand and ensure compliance with legal, risk, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
● Experience overseeing database systems related to event planning, operations, and/or student development
● Excellent organizational skills including an ability to oversee a wide variety of activities, to define pitfalls, to propose and implement effective solutions, while being able to set and re-adjust often competing priorities.
● High level of energy, flexibility, and the ability to work independently.
● Student development knowledge and experience in student affairs.
Working Conditions:
● Able to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
● This is a hybrid work schedule, requiring on-site work 3-4 days per week.
