MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. Degree in Political Science, Economics, Public Policy, Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations preferred. Experience and internships in Washington, DC and Capitol Hill preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and oral communication skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
  • Team player.

Preferred/Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Commitment to the core values of the Hoover Institution, enthusiasm about our mission, and requisite knowledge, skills, to contribute and implement ideas in our Washington, DC office.
  • Ability to interact in a courteous and tactful manner with Hoover Institution administrative offices, scholars, researchers, and visitors.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a small, but active office.
  • Self-starter with ability to handle personal and confidential information and provide correct information to callers.
  • Strong office and technical skills, with proficiency using Word, Excel, and aptitude to learn Stanford on-line systems.
  • Experience with AV/technology preferred.

  • None.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sitting.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl.
