Minimum Requirements
 
Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s Degree in social work, psychology or forensic psychology, higher education administration or other relevant discipline is strongly preferred.
  • JD or equivalent from an accredited law school is strongly preferred.

 
Experience:

  • Graduate training in law, higher education administration or other relevant discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a related field.
  • Experience conducting investigations alleging discrimination.
  • Knowledge of and experience with issues related to gender based violence.
  • Higher education experience is strongly preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal civil rights laws and regulations including Title IX, Clery and VAWA, is required;
  • Knowledge of best practices as they relate to institutions of higher education compliance with Title IX, Clery and VAWA;
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices for resolution of sexual harassment/assault matters
  • Knowledge of alternate dispute resolution; restorative justice
  • Ability to manage multiple, on-going and complex caseload of Title IX related incidents and complaints;
  • Ability and experience in investigating discrimination and harassment matters;
  • Ability and experience in overseeing and coordinating investigations by others
  • Effective project management, organization and analytical skills;
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with an emphasis on education and training for a variety of constituencies;
  • Strong written communication skills;
  • Ability to guide, advise and support the training and learning process with respect to Title IX and VAWA compliance;
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information;
  • Ability to build relationships and establish collaborative partnerships across the institution and peer institutions;
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity, as well as the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (staff, students, faculty, parents, administrators) with diplomacy and tact;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain a neutral party;
  • Maintenance of professional qualifications through on-going training and professional development;
  • Ability to act independently, take initiative and exercise sound judgment.

  • Promote culture of safety, demonstrate commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety, communicate safety concerns, use and promote safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.

 

Work Conditions: 

  • Will need to be available to respond to urgent matters on evenings and weekends and as a senior leader at the university will be considered on call as necessary to respond to inquiries.
