Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience with complex multi-system platforms and vendors.
  • Experience coordinating multi-system and computing environments in independent computing facilities.
  • Experience developing/implementing a business continuation and disaster recovery plan.
  • Proven ability to develop appropriate plans to meet computing needs.
  • Expert ability to program in multiple programming languages in multiple operating systems.
  • Proven ability to lead and work on large/complex system deployment projects in a team environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of security trends and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows AD directory, Group Policies, FileSharing, PowerShell and Windows Server environment.
  • Hands on experience with Linux shell, Python, Perl or other scripting tools.
  • Experience with deploying and maintaining VMware Vsphere infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of monitoring tools such as Nagios or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with server backup tools such as Veeam, CrashPlan or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, Storage gateway as well IaaS automation tools.
  • Experience managing complex patching deployment.
  • Proven record towards automating all the things.
  • Networking background with basic knowledge of networking equipment and understanding of firewall rules.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Demonstrated strong conceptual, logical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required plus the ability to convey complicated technical issues in an easy-to-comprehend fashion to non-technical staff.

Additional Qualifications:

The following qualifications are a great plus but not required
  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified System Engineer) certification
  • Working knowledge of iSCSI SANs and distributed files systems.
  • Experience with Redhat/CentOS Linux
  • Experience with PCI and Restricted Data classifications
  • Experience with Ossec monitoring
  • Experience with Splunk Enterprise
  • Experience with infrastructure orchestration such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform or similar
  • Experience with GCP/Azure or other cloud platforms
  • Experience with BigFix 
  • Person with strong interest in leading edge tech and track record of continuing education.
  • Detail oriented, methodical, meticulous, and process-oriented person who is prepared to instill the processes in a diverse, complex environment.

Working Conditions & Standards
  • Exposed to high voltage electricity, noise >80dB TWA, confined spaces, hot temperatures, heavy metals.
  • Occasional extended hours and some weekends

Our team will be moving to the new Stanford Redwood City campus, scheduled to open in 2019. It will be the workplace for approximately 2,700 staff, whose jobs are important to supporting the university’s mission. The campus will offer amenities such as onsite cafes and a dining pavilion, a high-end fitness facility with an outdoor pool, and a childcare center for Stanford families.
