To be successful in this role you must bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years or relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience with behavior change and sustainability.
  • Advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Interest in and academic background in sustainability
  • Passionate and up to date on behavioral change theory, research, and strategies, able to integrate this into their work/programs, and willing to share this knowledge with relevant stakeholders
  • Ability to manage and complete tasks on time and with moderate or little supervision
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral (including proofreading)
  • Ability to forge and maintain strategic partnerships with staff, faculty, and students to expand and maintain participation and engagement
  • Ability to manage data collection and reporting processes for surveys, reports, and publications
  • Ability to use judgment following policies and procedures and using creativity to solve problems
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of spreadsheets, database programs, and word processing programs
  • Ability to manage a complex and often competing set of priorities in a results-oriented environment
  • Able to plan and execute projects on a timeline
  • Demonstrated aptitude and motivation to conduct research that guides and informs sustainability strategies – both online and in person through interviews and stakeholder engagement
  • Must possess strong organizational, time management and project management skills, with the ability to support multiple projects of various types at different stages with emphasis on accuracy and meeting milestones and deadlines
  • High degree of discretion and judgment; ability to resolve interdependent deadlines with tact and diplomacy
  • High degree of energy and initiative, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with higher education organizational and operational structures with the ability to objectively think through initiatives’ impact in an institutional setting
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of spreadsheets, database programs, and word processing programs and basic-intermediate skills in creative programs suits (Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator and/or Photoshop)

 

Additional Information*:

  • Frequently sitting, perform desk-based computer tasks, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 11-20 pounds.
  • Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional work on weekends and evenings.
  • Work involves long hours of standing and sustained communications/dialogue.
  • May work in mechanical equipment rooms, kitchens, waste management areas, construction sites.
  • Travel, local and non-local.
