The Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics seeks a Student Services Officer to administer student and academic services with a key role in the admissions processes at the graduate level. This position will report to the Director of Student and Academic Services and will collaborate with faculty and staff on a variety of projects. The Student Services Officer will serve as a primary contact regarding department policy and procedures, as well as inquiries related to the graduate program and will be responsible for analyzing and reporting student data.

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee the department’s admissions process by collaborating with faculty and central offices to effectively implement and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate, and schedule key events such as admission visit days, new student orientation, department graduation events, and other student-focused activities.
  • Oversee and administer student records by analyzing data, counseling students, and making recommendations on eligibility, course enrollment and program requirements.
  • Collaborate with staff, faculty, and other offices to develop recommendations and resolve programmatic issues.
  • Provide guidance to students on various issues, including academic progress, program policies, and career plans.
  • Apprise students of research, fellowship and scholarship opportunities. Participate in related student recruitment and selection.
  • Provide first line response to identify students in crisis and refer to appropriate resources, as needed.
  • Identify trends, perform needs analysis, and participate in the implementation and testing of new technology.
  • Flexibility in completing other assigned duties.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required):

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Relevant computer systems/technology experience.
  • Understanding of financial transactions.
  • Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.

In addition, preferred requirements include:

  • Prior experience in an academic setting.
  • Basic office administration skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

Pay Range:

The expected pay range for this position is $77,397 to $87,253 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
