Essential Characteristics:

  • Emotional intelligence, cultural responsiveness (ability to navigate across differences, and awareness of possible barriers to accessing services and programs for different groups).

  • The ability to represent the organization to the public as well as interface with all levels of students, staff and volunteers while maintaining tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.

  • Experience with and commitment to working with colleagues from diverse backgrounds to support an inclusive and productive work environment.

  • Experience working on programs and services explicitly designed to engage with and address issues of cultural identity, cultural bias, and creating community across groups with different backgrounds is strongly preferred. 

  • Excellent judgment at all times and especially when dealing with sensitive issues/situations.

  • Experience exercising discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information.

  • Ability to think proactively, anticipate problems, analyze situations, develop effective solutions, and take initiative to facilitate smooth operations and schedules.

  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.

  • Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality in making decisions.

  • Will be expected to gain working knowledge of Stanford systems, including Oracle, if not already proficient.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

High school diploma and three years of administrative experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree, and research or administrative experience in a corporate or academic setting are strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.

  • Demonstrated success in following through and completing projects.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
