MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred;

  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in theater and event production, stage management and/or facilities operations, or combination of education and relevant experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General proficiency in all major areas of concert production (stage management, backline, lighting, video, general venue operations).

  • Ability to draft in Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, interns, guest artists and other professionals representing a wide diversity of personalities. Must maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing situations and priorities in a professional manner while remaining calm and collected under pressure. Capacity to receive and operate cues during tech rehearsals and performance. 

  • Ability to meet deadlines, follow schedules and rapid instructions.

  • Knowledge of job-related health/safety issues and ability to identify potential hazards.

  • Demonstrated computer skills on both PC and MAC systems with experience working in Microsoft Office and a strong understanding of networking technologies. Proficiency in Word and Excel required.  Experience with databases greatly preferred.  Experience with Final Cut, Photoshop or other Adobe products a plus.

  • Knowledge and understanding of theatrical lighting technology, including ETC, GrandMA, VariLite and other industry standard

  • Knowledge of safe operation of hand and power tools used in theatrical environment. Ability to read and follow safety procedures.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, staff, and venue users to ensure the most professional event possible.

  • Understanding of accounting, budgeting and financial issues and ability to track and monitor expenses related to the performances and hall operations.

  • Demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm.

 

Certifications and Licences:

  • Must have access to reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and good driving record.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for short distances.

  • Frequently stand/walk, seated, performs desk-based computer tasks.

  • Occasionally use a telephone.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be available to work extended and flexible hours and work schedules, including evenings, weekends and holidays based on production and event schedule requirements.

  • May be exposed to noise > 80db TWA

  • Work safely at heights (between 4 to 80 feet), around moving machinery, and with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, and drafts within an OSHA compliant environment.

 

WORK STANDARDS:

  • Must comply with the California Vehicle Code and Stanford University requirements when operating university-owned vehicles.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations with courtesy and cultural sensitivity.

  • Promote Culture of Safety: Demonstrate commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicates safety concerns; uses and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.
