QUALIFICATIONS:


Education & Experience:

Master’s degree and at least ten years of progressively responsible leadership and supervision including administrative and financial management experience.  Terminal degree, preferably a doctorate, and prior leadership experience in an academic institution strongly preferred, including demonstrated background and experience with student support and care, residential life, compliance and case management. 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated strategic leadership, planning and change management skills.

  • Exceptional respect for and understanding of the needs of a highly diverse student body at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Advanced financial expertise in budget planning and financial forecasting.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation and political acumen. Ability to influence people, solve problems, trouble shoot, think creatively and resolve conflicts.  Ability to be a calm presence in emergency situations.

  • Expert analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, trends and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to relate to a variety of constituencies, including students, parents, faculty, community groups and alumni, and to appreciate the interests and concerns of each group.

  • Subject matter expertise for areas of responsibility.

  • Knowledge of student development theory and of concerns, challenges, interests and issues currently prevalent among undergraduate and graduate students, with a strong background in case management.

  • Proven ability to work in an inclusive and consultative way with faculty, staff, peers, students, parents, and the broader external community.

  • Demonstrated understanding and willingness to transmit the cultural and ethical values of the University as they affect students.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

  • Frequently sitting.

  • Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds;

  • Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.

  • Work evenings, as needed and occasionally on weekends.

  • University on-campus housing is provided with this position; residing on campus is a condition of employment. 

  • Travel may be required to address issues that arise with students located off campus.
