H&S is home to fundamental and applied research, where free, open, and critical inquiry is pursued across disciplines. As the university’s largest school, H&S serves as the foundation of a Stanford undergraduate education no matter which discipline students pursue as a major. Together, faculty and students in H&S engage in inspirational teaching, learning, and research every day.

Department Description: The Department of Linguistics at Stanford is a vibrant center of research and teaching that emphasizes intellectual breadth, both disciplinary—integrating diverse theoretical linguistic perspectives with empirical investigation across languages—and interdisciplinary—drawing on perspectives from the other cognitive, computational, and social sciences, and the humanities. The Department houses multiple labs that work with datasets derived from various sources (e.g., experiments, corpus studies).

Position Summary: The Department of Linguistics is looking for a full-time SSRP to assist its labs and their associated faculty, postdocs, and PhD students via research support and lab maintenance. The SSRP will work under the general supervision of the Lab Committee, formally supervised by a faculty member of the committee on a rotating basis.

The SSRP will help with various aspects of maintaining the labs: providing research support for graduate students and faculty; running behavioral experiments (web-based and in person); collecting, managing, and IRB protocols offering occasional skills workshops; training and supervising undergraduate research assistants; purchasing and maintaining research equipment and supplies; and managing lab facilities, calendars, schedules, and web presences.

Desired technical skills include familiarity with R, Praat, git/GitHub, command line tools, html/javascript/css, React, python.
