QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:  

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or other relevant field
  • Five years relevant post-Ph.D. experience and a strong publication record 
  • Expertise and demonstrated experience in proteomics and peptide mass spectrometry, including
  • method development, algorithm optimization, data analysis, and diverse biological applications 
  • Expertise in HPLC and mass spectrometry instrumentation
  • Command of computational pipelines for peptide mass spectrometry
  • Strong management and organizational skills
  • Excellent problem solving, written and oral communication skills  

 

DESIRED:  

  • Previous chemical biology laboratory experience
  • Fluency in multiple programming languages (Python, R, Bash)
  • Basic systems administration skills (NFS, database management, intranet connectivity and security)  
     

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan experiments in support of research projects in lab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory. 
  • Independently oversee and conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes. 
  • Apply the theories and methods of a life science discipline to interpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestions regarding modifications to procedures.
  • Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research. 
  • Contribute to publication of findings. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals. 
  • Help with mass spectrometry facility maintenance as needed; maintain instrumentation, related consumables stocks, scheduling calendar.
  • Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques.
