The Senior Human Resources Administrator (HRA) will report to the Associate Director of Human Resources at University Human Resources (UHR). The Senior HRA must possess and demonstrate a positive outlook on continuous process improvement efforts while maintaining a team-based and customer-focused mindset. It is critical that this position exhibit the abilities to practice sound judgment and decision-making, effective written & oral communication, and respectful relationship management. This position must also exhibit a strong desire to continuously learn new and unfamiliar business topics, policies and procedures as they relate to HR functions – the ability to translate this information into operational successes will be critical.

The UHR-HR team regularly engages in conversations, ideas and initiatives to help benefit those that we serve – the Senior HRA must be able to understand, develop and practice a servant leadership philosophy. This position allows for a hybrid work arrangement (a combination of onsite and work from home). The number of days may occasionally fluctuate subject to business need, but the expectation is that this position will be onsite a minimum of 2 days/week. The onsite work location is Stanford Redwood City Campus, 505 Broadway, Redwood City, California but travel to the Stanford Campus, Stanford, California may  be required at times. 


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Interpret human resources policies, and provide advice on human resources processes, procedures and issues. Resolve issues as appropriate and consult with and make recommendations to the manager/director to resolve more complex issues.
  • Facilitate the recruitment process by providing advice to hiring managers on job postings, advertising, interview questions, and reference checking.
  • Conduct pre-screening, including sourcing and interviewing, to refer qualified applicants to hiring managers.
  • Guide managers in the process of selecting job descriptions and developing job postings.
  • Design and manage onboarding and exit processes.
  • Manage HRIS data management activities, including PeopleSoft transactions. Monitor personnel action reporting to ensure data integrity and compliance, and research and resolve pay issues.
  • Develop and maintain a variety of reports and queries. Analyze and monitor data to recommend and implement process and practice improvements.
  • Explain applicable workers’ compensation, disability, leave policies and procedures. Manage appropriate documentation and generate related correspondence. May update reports to track leaves and maintain HRIS records.
  • Coordinate the communication and management of the annual performance appraisal and salary planning processes. Gather data and/or generate reports to support the performance appraisal and salary planning processes. May conduct analysis to determine salary inequities and provide recommendations to the manager/director.
  • Act on behalf of manager/director for human resources matters in his/her absence.
  • Positions at this level may include one or more of the following duties:
    • Advise on documentation requirements, including how to revise documentation to ensure all university and legal requirements are met.
    • Support and/or implement compliance programs.
    • Conduct research in support of workplace investigations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Associate degree and four years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience applying and interpreting human resources policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing programs and/or projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently, consistently follow through with projects and assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to independently draft effective correspondence and documentation.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Must be skilled in human resource management systems, such as PeopleSoft and time/leave systems. Experience using email and internet.

Certifications and Licenses:

Preferred: aPHR, PHR, PHRca, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and use a telephone.
  • Occasionally write by hand, twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, sort/file paperwork.
  • Rarely kneel/crawl, operate foot and/or hand controls

Travel on campus to schools/units, out of town.

 The expected pay range for this position is $77,000 - $92,000 per annum.  

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
