The Graduate School of Education, and the External Relations team are committed to creating and celebrating a diverse and inclusive community.   It is expected that alumni relations work will reflect this commitment.

 

The Senior Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Community Engagement is expected to spend time out of the office once conditions allow for such travel, proactively and strategically meeting with alumni and volunteers where they live.  The field work comprises an aggressive schedule of visits with alumni for the purposes of engaging existing and identifying potential alumni leaders and working to build alumni communities in our primary markets. 

 

The Senior Associate Director will be someone who is people and relationship oriented, passionate, energetic, and attuned to the mission-driven focus of the GSE. We seek a professional who knows when to initiate forward movement and when to approach with caution. The ability to see around corners and past roadblocks, and direct attention to creative problem-solving is also critical, as is a willingness and sense of obligation to seek out the wisdom and partnership of our fellow colleagues.

 

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to represent the university professionally both internally and externally.
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience with volunteer development and oversight.
  • Strong interpersonal, team, and leadership skills; tact and flexibility in working with diverse population groups.
  • Ability to juggle a vast quantity of incoming information, interruptions, and inquiries with a high level of professionalism and tolerance for ambiguity.
  • Proven decision-making skills and the ability to understand and solve complex questions.
  • Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new systems.

 

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects with competing priorities, meet deadlines and project plans with short- and long-term end dates. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated success in following through and completing projects.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects, while still being open to new and creative solutions.
  • Advanced computer skills with a working knowledge of applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project Management Software.
