MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of Python (including Pandas and NumPy) [see dlatk.wwbp.org for actual code base]
  • Basic knowledge of software engineering principles.
    ◦ Proficient in SQL
    ◦ Proficient in Git and version control
    ◦ Proficient in Linux shell (e.g. bash)
  • Ability to define and solve logical problems for technical applications.
    ◦ Understanding of statistics / linear algebra / quantitative research methods
  • Knowledge of and ability to select, adapt, and effectively use a variety of programming methods.
  • Ability to recognize and recommend needed changes in user and/or operations procedures. 
 
Preferred Education and Experience
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or similar discipline
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    ◦ Python
    ◦ R and/or statistical computing
    ◦ Web-service APIs
    ◦ Natural Language Processing
    ◦ Machine Learning, Deep Learning (PyTorch or TensorFlow)
    ◦ Hadoop, Spark or other cluster implementations
 
Desired values and interests:
  • Interest in research questions
  • Self-motivated problem- and puzzle-solving
  • Interest in writing of publications (conference publications)
  • Team spirit
  • Previous industry or research programming experience 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, writing by hand.
  • Rarely use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds
