Education & Experience (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Advanced degree may be required for some programs. For jobs with financial responsibilities, experience managing a budget and developing financial plans.

 

Education & Experience (Desired)

  • There is a strong desire for candidates with a doctoral degree in the social sciences or in engineering collaborating with social scientists, and five to seven years of relevant experience in area of specialization or combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience. Interested candidates could be appointed as postdoctoral scholars.
  • Experience working in or a degree related to a built environment profession
  • Expertise in web-development.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required)

  • Experience in planning, designing, conducting, and managing research involving experimental psychology, sociology, or human factors, including the ability to work with human subjects.
  • Exceptional technical skills spanning data science and statistics with knowledge in the built environment (e.g., civil engineering, urban planning, architecture).
  • Experience and interest working in interdisciplinary groups and with partners in nonprofits, municipalities, and developers.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communications skills
  • A self-starter, comfortable with autonomy, and able to drive initiatives to completion.
  • Creative, self-motivated, able to identify research opportunities.
  • Strong writing skills with ability to publish in peer-reviewed literature.
  • Experience with NVivo or Atlas.ti software.
  • Experience using statistical software such as R, STATA, SPSS and Python.

 

Certifications and Licenses:

  • For teaching jobs, advanced degree or certification may be required for some programs.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Occasionally use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
  • Rarely sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.
  • Ability to use voice to present information/communicate with others.
  • On-campus mobility.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May work extended hours, evenings or weekends.
  • May travel locally.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
