TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL BRING:

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or Economics and eight plus years of applicable experience, or combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Master’s degree and/or CPA designation a plus

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of real estate investment structures, financial reporting, and GAAP.  Self-starter and demonstrated capability to gain the respect of others, influence people of varying levels of authority in multiple organizations and elicit cooperation without direct authority.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of applicable experience (real estate, lease, and/or property management accounting) or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and impart technical accounting knowledge and information in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Ability to communicate decisions while educating at the same time.
  • Establish good working relationships with a diverse population.
  • Strong sense of service orientation, with a proven ability to balance controls and compliance.  Ability to develop solutions when many variables are constrained and initiative to improve the department constantly.
  • Prominent level of professionalism and integrity with a demonstrated ability to work productively with and gain confidence in many levels of an organization.  Ability to maintain focus, successfully execute plans, and bring closure to activities, tasks, and projects. Proven track record of getting things done.
  • Other skills necessary for this job are excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment as an agent of change.
  • Advanced proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to interpret and apply advanced accounting knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Effective communication skills, including communicating information clearly and effectively to internal audiences and client groups.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Project management skills and ability to lead and contribute to a project team.

 

In Addition, Preferred Requirements Include:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, real estate investment software (YARDI) and ERP systems, preferably Oracle, with proven ability to apply knowledge to understand new systems and processes.
  • General understanding of SQL or relational database knowledge to extract data and perform analysis.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and prioritizing multiple tasks to meet deadlines and customer service response standards.
  • Proven ability to apply knowledge to analyze and interpret business policies and external regulations and translate them into compliant and efficient accounting processes.
  • Ability to observe trends in data, recommending and helping to implement solutions to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy of data.
  • Strong customer-oriented approach to managing work.
  • System knowledge (relational database, SQL, and/or AI)
