MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Graduate degree in history, museum studies, or a specialization in oral history or public history or relevant graduate degree. Minimum of two years of experience with oral histories or relevant experience. Demonstrated experience in cultural heritage institutions, such as academic libraries, archives and museums preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of oral history professional practices, methodology, theory, and ethics.
- Strong understanding of best practices related to the preservation of oral histories.
- Knowledge of digital preservation applications, such as Libsafe, and archival content management systems, such as ArchivesSpace.
- Experience working with complex research materials, such as databases, born digital formats, web archives, and media files, especially audio and video.
- Demonstrated experience with recording, editing and transcription technology.
- Experience with, or the ability to learn, best practices for accessioning born digital material.
- Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, self-direction, and a commitment to innovation, creativity, and excellence.
- Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to balance priorities, and to set and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to productively engage and influence cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating with and communicating effectively with collection donors and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem solving skills in a variety of situations.
- Ability to direct the work of others.
- Knowledge of Pashto, Dari, and/or Farsi/Persian preferred.
Certifications and Licenses:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
- Constantly sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequently twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, writing by hand, kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other).
- Use a telephone, operate hand controls, use a telephone, speaking.
- Must be able to push and maneuver a fully-loaded cart weighing up to 650 pounds that requires an initial push force up to 50 pounds. Ability to lift 40 pound boxes or bundles.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Will require working some evenings and weekends across multiple time zones in support of the project.
