MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
- Two-year college degree plus one or more years of experience in an academic library, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated interpersonal, clerical, and basic organizational skills
- Ability to understand library policy
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of library services and practices
- Knowledge of or ability to learn a variety of technical or business programs
- Knowledge of or ability to learn Library of Congress call number system
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English
Other Relevant Knowledge, Skills and Abilities May Include:
- Consistent accuracy and attention to detail while maintaining a very high level of productivity
- Record of excellent attendance
- Ability to follow procedures and recognize exceptional situations
- Ability to interpret information in MARC formatted records
- Proficiency using PC-based applications (Windows, word processing, spreadsheets) and familiarity with other computer applications (email, internet, Integrated Library Systems).
- Good keyboarding skills and physical tolerance for at least six hours per day of keyboarding
Physical Requirements
- Ability to push a cart weighing up to 650 lbs. that requires an initial push force up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to work in an environment that is dusty and/or moldy
- Ability to lift books that are up to 10 pounds
- Ability to kneel and reach
- Must be able to stand for many hours
