The Facilities & Hospitality department of the Stanford GSB seeks an experienced and highly service oriented Manager, Facilities Services & Project Management to oversee various facilities services, space management, preventive maintenance and renewal programs and projects for the GSB.  This is a highly dynamic organization in which special projects and initiatives often impact priorities. You will collaborate with key stakeholders within the GSB and across the university. You will lead a team of staff to achieve goals and objectives. Hospitality, flexibility, collaboration, innovation and initiative will be essential for success in this position.


The GSB properties include the Knight Management Center and GSB Residences on 19.5 acres with nearly 700K sq.ft. of buildings that support academic and administrative functions, student and executive residential experiences, and food service programs. The Schwab Residential Center is a 24-hour, 7-day/week residence, and conference center.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and manage assigned staff, including other supervisors/managers, engaged in facilities management or building/equipment maintenance. Participate in department/unit strategic management.
  • Oversee the daily operation and management of assigned facilities and programs, including scheduling and assigning work to staff and coordinating with staff, subcontractors, and/or vendors; coaching lower level staff; overseeing staffing and performance evaluation of assigned staff; contributing to department or division staffing needs forecast.
  • Clarify and resolve problems spanning multiple areas or technical fields and/or oversee or develop programs within assigned facilities.
  • Manage and/or develop budget for area of responsibility, including staffing, maintenance, contracts, etc.
  • Manage ongoing service contracts as applicable. Establishes service standards and expectations, and evaluates KPIs.
  • Participate in department/unit strategic management for facilities long-range renewal and preventive maintenance programs; providing input into long-range financial, budgeting, and programmatic planning and development; providing input into the development of policies and procedures such as LEED building standards, California health and safety codes, and ADA compliance; interpret and manage policies and procedures; direct process improvement and efficiencies for assigned area.
  • Oversee and/or monitor project activities; ensure integration with larger unit goals; coordinate with staff, subcontractors, and/or vendors.
  • Be flexible to completing any other additional assigned duties.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other appropriate technical area, or combination of technical education, training, and experience.
  • Two or more years of experience managing facilities operations and maintenance staff in an environment with a variety of building types (administrative offices, classrooms, laboratories, residential & dining facilities, auditoriums, etc.).
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety rules, regulations, and policies. Ability to conduct job site inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with others. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing service contracts.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing budgets.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, developing, and implementing programs and projects.
  • Ability to interpret planning specifications, documents, working drawings, and related reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Subject matter expertise for area(s) of responsibility.
