Minimum Requirements: 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelors’ degree and two years of experience in a related scientific field, or combination of education and relevant experience. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Understanding of academic research facility needs. 

  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets. 

  • Experience in managing facilities, operations, space, and equipment in a research or teaching setting. 

  • Excellent communication skills. 

  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • MS in an appropriate scientific field with Micro-CT 3D imaging and image processing experience.  

  • General background in a discipline related to work in a Micro-CT lab in the School (e.g., geology, materials science, environmental science, engineering, optics). 

  • Experience supervising laboratory projects in a diverse research and technical environment with emphasis on coordinating/overseeing user activities in a manner that ensures safe work conditions and facilitates efficient utilization of laboratory resources 

  • Experience training individuals in complex tasks and development/refinement of effective method protocols for imaging and image processing. 

  • Experience with image processing software and developing image processing routines. 

  • Experience managing large volumes of digital data. 

  • Experience with one or more coding languages, Python preferred. 

 

Physical Requirements*:  

  • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk-based computer tasks, lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing over 40 pounds. 

  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to 8 hours. 

  • Must have correctible vision to perform duties of the job. 

  • Ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
