Minimum Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree and eight years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Demonstrated experience providing management support in a combination of human resources areas including but not limited to employee and labor relations; employment and labor law; compensation; recruiting and hiring; diversity, equity, and inclusion; training and employee development; performance management and coaching; and organizational development.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, understanding of group dynamics and a successful record of establishing credibility and trust with a diverse client group.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, judgment, negotiating, influencing and decision-making skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact and diplomacy; in this position it will be important to be able to maintain separate distinctions between information pertaining to OGC and information pertaining to DPS.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports and deliver presentations and/or training to employees and managers.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite and human resource information systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete work in a timely and accurate manner. Attention to detail is critical to this role.
- Flexibility and calmness in managing a large work volume with minimal supervision under tight deadlines and in pressure situations.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Specialized experience and familiarity with law enforcement/collective bargaining unit issues, desired.
Physical Requirements
Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a computer; use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
Occasionally reach/work above shoulders, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, write by hand, sort/file paperwork.
Rarely kneel/crawl, operate foot and/or hand controls.
Working Conditions
- Ability to adjust schedule in order to provide support to employees working non-standard work schedules.
- Willingness to carry a department issued communication device (mobile phone) and respond outside of regular business hours.
- Physical presence in the office is expected based on operational needs.

The expected pay range for this position is $180,000 to $225,000 per annum.
