MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in English, communications, or journalism, and eight years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge and skill in all editorial processes including story development, quality control, design, and collaboration.

    ◦ Understanding of brand management principles and the role of content in creating impactful, memorable and durable brand voices.

  • Ability to provide recommendations for long-range strategies.

  • Ability to synthesize complex material from multiple sources to identify and resolve key editorial and publication issues.

    ◦ Capacity to write and synthesize complex materials and communicate highly technical information in a manner easily understood.

  • Ability to work effectively and provide leadership to a team under stringent deadline requirements.

    ◦ Strong influencing, negotiating, and relationship management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with senior organizational leaders, scientists, and faculty.

    ◦ Demonstrated ability to earn credibility and influence peers and content creators.

  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to plan, budget, and track resources.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply discretion and judgment in evaluating implications of publication and information release to internal and external audiences.  


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Journalism background a plus. Work in starting a publication and/or entrepreneurial environment is desirable.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Fluency and general knowledge of technology industry, including artificial intelligence.

  • Curiosity; an interest and an ability to learn new concepts.

  • Excellent writer who can crystallize complex subject matter quickly and concisely.

  • Confidence and grace under pressure. 

  • Creativity in problem solving as well as creating new content.

  • Inspire and manage creative agencies and individual contributors ranging from writers and designers to illustrators and videographers. 

  • Dependability meeting deadlines in tight timeframes. 

  • Judgement on how to handle nuanced conversations and topics under public scrutiny.

  • Fast-thinker who can solve problems both alone and with teammates in real-time.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, speaking.

  • Occasionally grasp forcefully, writing by hand.

  • Rarely sort/file paperwork.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional work on evenings and weekends.
