MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree desired: Masters Degree in Taxation, CPA or JD desired.
- Experience preparing international tax forms and maintaining tax workpapers required. Tax experience in a high-caliber firm, and/or in another large tax-exempt organization, preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of applicable work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience, required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- International tax expertise, both corporate and individual.
- Expertise preparing or reviewing tax returns applicable to Stanford’s global operating environment, requiring knowledge of both not-for-profit and for-profit tax principles.
- Strong substantive international tax knowledge and legal research skills required, as well as proven ability to translate tax knowledge and research into practical advice.
- Knowledge and experience of US tax treaties, OECD transfer pricing and reporting principles (including country-by-country reporting, master file development and maintenance)
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills required. The Global Tax Manager is responsible for preparing returns of the highest quality.
- High level of professionalism and integrity required, with a demonstrated ability to work productively with, and gain confidence of, all levels of an organization.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize complex data, especially in preparing returns using financial statement data and reporting on trends.
- Demonstrated ability to educate groups of tax and non-tax professionals.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize complex data; high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to contribute/lead as part of a multi-functional team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences and client groups.
- Ability to communicate technical information in an easy to understand manner. Ability to prepare high-quality correspondence to client departments, in-country consultants, and tax authorities.
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to manage a range of projects simultaneously.
- Stay current on areas impacting international taxation (e.g. changes to VAT, GST laws, transfer pricing, OECD regulations, FATCA, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications, such as Excel, Word, Tableau, PowerPoint
- Experience managing staff a plus
Certifications and Licenses:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork or parts, grasp lightly, and use fine manipulation, lift, carry, push and pull objects that weigh 10 pounds or less.
- Occasionally write by hand, twist, bend, stoop and squat.
- Rarely stand, walk, reach or work above shoulders.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- May work extended hours during peak business cycles.
