MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
Advanced Degree in Library Science or a relevant academic discipline, with two or more years of relevant experience in a relevant library setting; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● High level of proficiency with non-linear video editing workstations and relevant operating systems. Experience with Final Cut Pro 7 is preferable.
● Knowledge of French recommended.
● Technical understanding of or experience with film and video production, post-production and non-linear video editing, in particular film-to-video offline editing workflows.
● Consistent display of strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate technical knowledge for general access.
● Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment.
● Ability to collaborate and negotiate issues with people from different parts of the library and outside the library, including collection curators and creators.
● Ability to identify challenges and opportunities, engage others in their resolution, and recommend appropriate courses of action.
● Demonstrated ability to evaluate and improve online resources in terms of content quality, functionality and user interface issues.
● Ability to independently perform complex job functions such as technical processing of digital archives and preparation of online exhibits.
● Demonstrated bibliographic expertise; experience researching or working with collections of filmmaking materials.
Other Relevant Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities May Include:
● Experience working with digital archival materials.
● Ability to troubleshoot complex computing environments and provide alternative technical solutions when necessary.
● Experience with relevant aspects of library operations including understanding of contemporary library practices, trends and emerging technologies for managing, processing, and providing access to archival collections in digital formats.
● Demonstrated understanding of the broad scope of library operations with ability to understand how their role interacts with the rest of the organization.
● Experience applying library and archival descriptive and metadata standards (e.g. Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS), Encoded Archival Description (EAD), Metadata Object Description Schema (MODS); ability to rapidly learn and implement new descriptive practices adopted by the department and/or Stanford Libraries.
● High degree of familiarity with collections management and tracking applications, e.g. ArchivesSpace and Aeon.
● High level of proficiency with computers and desktop applications, including e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and Trello.
● Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Physical Requirements:
● Constantly sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
● Occasionally stand/walk, twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
● Rarely use a telephone, operate hand controls.
● Must be able to push and maneuver a fully-loaded cart weighing up to 650 pounds that requires an initial push force up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

The expected pay range for this position is $86,000 - $101,000. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
