What You’ll Bring:
To be successful in this role, you should bring deep knowledge of the learning sciences and of applications of digital technology to enhance learning opportunities and outcomes. This role requires working with all levels of constituents, so it is important that you can demonstrate skill in interfacing with academic experts and senior leadership to frame collaborations around technology-supported learning innovations in addition to directing a multi-unit research organization/initiative spanning multiple disciplines and for supporting leaders of the discipline-based units. You should show a demonstrated commitment promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion since you will be working in a complex, collegial organization where leadership is exercised through professional collaboration rather than strict hierarchical authority.
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and ten years of relevant experience in administrative and financial management, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated strategic leadership, planning and change management skills.
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of diplomacy in persuading and influencing a wide variety of people at various levels to achieve results.
- Excellent strategic planning skills.
- Excellent communication skills. Able to influence people, solve problems, trouble shoot, think creatively and resolve conflicts.
- Advanced financial expertise in accounting, budget planning, and financial forecasting. Advanced expertise in grants and contract administration.
- Exceptional negotiation and effective interpersonal skills negotiation and political acumen skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Expert analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards, trends and/or regulatory requirements. Subject matter expertise for area(s) of responsibility.
- Advanced expertise in business and management computer applications and databases. Broad understanding of information technology hardware and software infrastructure. Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate strong collaborative relationships with faculty and able to anticipate faculty needs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate research findings to a broad audience and the ability to frame research/innovation ideas in a compelling way to potential funders.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
- Demonstrated ability to grow the size and impact of research-based organizations/ initiatives.
- Experience leading collaborations between researchers and external organizations and stakeholders, employing approaches such as design-based implementation research, networked impact, inclusive innovation, and user-centered design.
- Ph.D. in learning sciences, education, psychology, computer science, or other relevant field.
