Minimum Education and Experience Required

Advanced degree, J.D., required along with three years of relevant experience.  Experience as both a practitioner and a researcher working on international humanitarian law and humanitarian issues in conflict zones, strongly preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.
  • Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
  • Ability to oversee and direct staff.
  • Basic knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans.

Preferred Experience:

  • Participation as a researcher on policy-relevant research projects and scholarly publications on international humanitarian law and/or humanitarian issues in conflict zones;
  • Expertise regarding the design and operation of humanitarian notification systems in conflict settings; prior experience researching the relationship between social media content moderation policies and the risk of escalation of violent political conflict;
  • Prior experience researching the potential for introducing digital information (including information collected via an HNS) in war crimes trials; prior experience managing student research assistants;
  • Prior experience managing organizational budgets and administrative policies;
  • Prior experience developing and maintaining an internet and social presence.
