MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education & Experience:

 

Advanced degree and five years of relevant experience in area of specialization or combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience (10 years of professional experience strongly preferred).  Experience managing a budget and developing financial plans. Experience developing program partnerships and funding sources.  J.D or Ph.D. strongly preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to develop program partnerships and funding sources.
  • Advanced oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
  • Ability to oversee and direct staff.
  • Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans.

 

Certifications and Licenses:

 

For teaching jobs, advanced degree or certification may be required for some programs.

 

Additional Preferred Expertise and Experience Include:

  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing racial justice in a manner consistent with the overall mission of the Center.
  • Visionary and strategic leadership skills, with demonstrated leadership in law, business, government, or academia. 
  • Experience envisioning new programs and the process of program development and implementation.
  • Experience with litigation and/or policy advocacy, and research.
  • Experience with fundraising, budget planning, resource development, and external relations.
  • Knowledge of and relationships with organizations and agencies--governments, businesses, and advocacy and community organizations--that impact and advance racial justice.
  • Ability to be an effective public speaker and to represent the Center before a wide array of audiences.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and positions.
  • Excitement about and prior experience working with and/or teaching students.
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff, including how to create a shared vision and build a supportive team environment, ensuring staff receive the training and support necessary to fulfill job duties, and designing systems and infrastructure that address program and staff needs.
  • Willingness and ability to navigate a complex institutional setting.
  • Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
