MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or journalism, and eight years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Advanced degree highly desired.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

        Extensive knowledge and skill in all editorial processes including story development, quality control, design, and collaboration.

        Ability to provide recommendations for long-range strategies.

        Ability to synthesize complex material from multiple sources to identify and resolve key editorial and publication issues.

        Ability to work effectively and provide leadership to a team under stringent deadline requirements.

        Ability to work effectively with senior organizational leaders and faculty.

        Demonstrated project management skills and ability to plan, budget, and track resources.

        Demonstrated ability to apply discretion and judgment in evaluating implications of publication and information release to internal and external audiences.

 

Additional Desired Skills:

        Strong professional experience, with excellent social skills and leadership abilities.

        Keen sense of content strategy and presentation formats.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

        Occasional work on evenings and weekends.

 

About SSIR

The Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society (Stanford PACS) is a research center within the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University. Stanford PACS develops and shares knowledge to improve philanthropy, strengthen civil society, and effect social change. It supports eight major research initiatives and publishes the Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR).

 

The School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) is the foundation of a liberal arts education at Stanford. The school encompasses 23 departments and 25 interdisciplinary programs. H&S is home to fundamental and applied research, where free, open, and critical inquiry is pursued across disciplines. As the university’s largest school, H&S serves as the foundation of a Stanford undergraduate education no matter which discipline students pursue as a major. Graduate students work alongside world-renowned faculty to pursue and shape foundational research that leads to breakthroughs and discoveries that shed new light on the past, influence the present, and shape the future. Together, faculty and students in H&S engage in inspirational teaching, learning, and research every day.

 

The expected pay range for this position is $130,000 to $165,000 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
