Education
- Associates degree and four years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
- PGA, PGA Associate, or LPGA membership preferred.
- Maintain professional expertise through related courses and learning opportunities in golf training, player development, management, and accounting.
Knowledge, Skills and Traits
- If a PGA Member, maintain PGA of America membership in good standing and mentor apprentices through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) program.
- If a PGA Apprentice, make steady progress toward completion of PGA membership requirements within two years of hire date.
- Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf instruction and teaching methodology.
- Fundamental supervisory practices and principles.
- Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.
- Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
- Self-motivated with desire to promote and market.
- Service and customer focused attitude.
- Experienced in written and oral business communications(.)
- Remain up to date on customer relations management and player development initiatives.
- Experienced user with current and on trend golf teaching technologies: Trackman, Sam Putt Lab, Gears and GC Quad
- Experienced computer user including Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in other applications, i.e. Email, Internet, tournament and database services, and POS software systems.
- Attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of current trends in the industry as needed.
- Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community.
- Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations and marketing and business trends.
DAPER’s Integrity:
This position, along with all DAPER coaches and staff, is responsible for the integrity of Stanford’s intercollegiate athletics program, recreation and wellness department, and for the reputation of Stanford University. This position is responsible for ensuring that your involvement with DAPER activities maintains the integrity of the University’s reputation and does not negatively impact the relationship between the University and its faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Additionally, this position must comply with University policies and procedures, NCAA, and conference rules and regulations.
The expected base salary for this position is $66,560 to $75,000 per annum.
Incentive Opportunity: This position is also eligible for additional incentives based on golf instruction and related revenue.
