Director of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction, Knight-Hennessy Scholars (18-Month Fixed Term)

Minimum Requirements (education and experience)

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or other appropriate technical area, or combination of technical education, training, and experience.

• Five or more years of extensive relevant professional and managerial experience in an environment with a variety of building types (administrative offices, classrooms, laboratories, residential & dining facilities, auditoriums, etc.).

Strongly preferred: 

• Master’s Degree and 10 years of experience in facilities management, planning, design, and construction, or combination of education and relevant experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with widely diverse groups, including individuals at all levels both within and outside the organization and gain their cooperation

• Ability to plan, organize, direct the work of consultants and vendors

• Ability to prioritize work by making informed judgments and to develop solutions for complex problems

• Ability to utilize project management tools

• Knowledge of CAD system, estimating, cost control, scheduling, construction administration, quality control, specification writing, and space planning

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility

• Knowledge of technical, professional and business processes in the fields of architecture, design, and construction

• Knowledge of building systems, building codes and safety requirements

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

• Ability to prioritize and multitask

• Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to foster teamwork

• Ability to create clear and effective graphic presentation documents.

Physical Requirements*

• Perform desk-based computer tasks 

• Sit, stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 50 pounds, twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl
