Stanford Graduate School of Business

The Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks a new leader for entrepreneurial co-curricular programs. The Co-Curricular Programs Director (CPD) will provide leadership for multiple co-curricular learning experiences, building out and leading a team of 3 staff members to develop strategy, lead, and operate these programs. The CPD will also serve as expert advisor to students evaluating new venture ideas as part of their graduate learning journeys.

This position is located on campus at Stanford, California. There is some opportunity for flex hours, but the role is highly student facing and requires being physically on campus as often as 4 days a week, depending on the time of year.

 

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead and oversee a team of people who manage strategy, development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of multiple co-curricular programs including: Stanford Venture Studio, the Entrepreneurial Summer Program, the Botha Chan Innovation Internship Program, entrepreneurial workshops and events, and the operations of a new summer program for startup founders.
  • Build and lead an engaged team of 2-3 Assistant Director/Program Coordinator team members to ensure all programs reach their learning goals, operate incredibly effectively, and create excellent experiences for students.
  • Provide direct leadership of one of the programs, providing students with a set of resources to support them in evaluating new venture ideas as part of their learning journey.
  • Advise graduate students from the Schools of Business, Engineering, Law, and Medicine about the process of evaluating a new venture idea based on the processes, frameworks, and approaches taught in GSB courses.
  • Represent CES Co-curricular programs and build critical relationships with the broader university, external community (particularly startup investors, donors & alumni volunteers) and other stakeholders.
  • Develop strategy for internal and external program communications
  • Develop and manage program budgets.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Advanced degree and five years in entrepreneurship and/or startup investing. Experience managing a budget and developing financial plans. Experience developing and facilitating program partnerships and interacting with senior level leaders at partner organizations.
  • Ability to build and lead an effective, engaged, team
  • Ability to manage multiple programs through demonstrated strong skills in strategy, implementation/operations, and program review and assessment
  • Ability to advise students about how to evaluate new venture ideas, based on prior experiences in entrepreneurship, startup investing, or entrepreneurial education
  • Ability to develop and nurture program partnerships and funding sources.
  • Advanced oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
  • Ability to manage budgets and develop financial plans.

In addition, our preferred requirements include:

  • Sufficient entrepreneurial or startup investing experience to have seen many startup firms, developed familiarity with the challenges and issues early-stage startups face, and created an understanding of best practices and processes early-stage companies have used to navigate those challenges.
  • A strong network in the Silicon Valley startup ecosystem.
