REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Good judgment is required to organize the various phases of any assignment and obtain and correlate information from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to act in an independent and anticipatory manner with minimal supervision. 
  • Exceptional organizational practices, effectively managing overlapping timelines and/or competing priorities, while maintaining extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, set and reorder priorities, take action on behalf of supervisors, and represent the office to a variety of internal and external constituencies.
  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic office with constantly changing priorities and opportunities.
  • Ability to work efficiently, juggle tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and achieve goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of people.
  • Outstanding communication skills and exceptional attention to detail and follow- through.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in cross-cultural situations and across a wide range of audiences.
  • Basic writing, research and editorial skills.
  • Basic project management skills and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to synthesize information from diverse sources and work with offices across campus.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, diplomacy and tact.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, database management, on-line searches, etc.)
  • AA Degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • Four years of relevant work experience in administrative support.
  • Ability to draft original correspondence, research and write background briefings, and draft fundraising reports.
  • Ability to edit and finalize draft documents for distribution to internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to synthesize information from diverse sources and work with offices across campus.
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime.

 

 

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS

 

  • Understanding of and support for the goals and objectives of the fundraising operation and the External Relations operation more broadly.
  • Experience using Stanford PostGrads and CARD (the Stanford University databases for alumni and friends) and Oracle Financials (the Stanford University financial database) desirable but not required. Inclination towards embracing technology is appreciated. 
  • Familiarity with Stanford processes and systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of fundraising techniques helpful.

 

 

PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS

Must be able to sit and type at a computer for extended period of time, do moderate lifting of files and publications (up to 30 pounds) and bend and reach to do filing.
