External Relations is a collaborative joint department composed of a fundraising group, an alumni relations group, and an operations group, which work together to build and maintain relationships with Stanford Law School alumni, parents, and friends to advance the school’s mission. As one of several new positions this year, the team is growing to enhance the school’s engagement with our alumni and donors and to support the evolving needs of the alumni community. This moment of evolution is an opportunity for the right candidate to help establish new and dynamic ways of working in a hybrid work environment on projects critical to the school’s future.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

The Development Project Manager will serve a critical role in supporting the Donor Relations and Development Communications team in a diverse range of areas including project management, data and reporting, events, donor and volunteer correspondence. Reporting to the Director of Development Operations and working closely with the Associate Dean for External Relations, the project manager will support the planning and implementation of fundraising efforts for the school’s Long Range Vision initiatives, helping the entire department achieve its ambitious goals. The project manager will establish and implement effective data and reporting systems and facilitate project support to the Donor Relations and Development Communications team.  The successful candidate will be an energetic and enthusiastic individual interested in joining a dynamic and hard-working team, a self-starter who takes initiative, likes to own projects, and is able to prioritize his/her/their work

 

The successful candidate will be eager to build a comprehensive knowledge of SLS–including knowing the names of key volunteers and donors–and how they help SLS.

 

 

CORE DUTIES*:

  • Assist the Director of Development Operations in tracking, analyzing, and reporting on fundraising progress and strategies.

  • Support the Donor Relations team’s management of donor stewardship.

  • Retrieve information about prospects and donors, manage data input, and generate complex reports using Salesforce (CARD) and financial reporting systems and assisting with logistics and other details.

  • Help draft confidential briefing and event memoranda and prospect backgrounds for law school dean, faculty, and university leaders, to prepare them for individual meetings and events.

  • Partner with fundraisers to manage updates to the database including contact reports and updating strategy and solicitation information.

  • Track budget and manage vendor expenses for the Donor Relations and Development Communications team.

  • Support members of the Donor Relations and Development Communications team with occasional scheduling and meeting support.

  • Prepare gift transmittals and troubleshoot issues with the Development Services department and the law school’s finance team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Advanced ability with Microsoft Office and Google Drive.

  • Ability to work efficiently, juggle tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and achieve goals.

  • Proficiency with database systems.

  • Strong data analysis skills including experience gathering, organizing and analyzing data, and communicating/presenting results and recommendations in a succinct fashion to key stakeholders.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with a wide range of people.

  • Outstanding communication skills and exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external constituents.

 

 

 

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid California Non-commercial Class Driver's License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, sit, and use a telephone, stand/walk.

  • Occasionally light/fine grasping, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, writing by hand.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May require working flexible hours, including nights and weekends
