MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree. A J.D., LLB, related advanced degree/certification, or combination of education and experience is required. Five years (Seven to ten years preferred) of related professional experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in planned giving, tax, trust, estate planning, probate, and/or related matters.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong writing skills.
  • A high degree of technical expertise in planned giving
  • Proven experience dealing with unique gift assets creatively and effectively
  • Exceptional ability to organize and motivate staff, and ability to manage colleagues that combine fundraising field work with planned giving expertise
  • Proven record of accomplishment that demonstrates initiative, creativity, managerial, and interpersonal skills, preferably in a university setting
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse array of prospects, donors and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and build relationships with individuals.
  • Ability to work and motivate others, including prospective donors and their advisors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize a variety of tasks and demands.
  • Must communicate effectively and possess excellent interpersonal skills, including strong negotiating skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Confidentiality and discretion of the highest order are required.
  • Ability to use current desktop software applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of standard and complex charitable giving techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging and motivating groups of diverse individuals.

 

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Non-commercial Class Driver's license.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, stand/walk, sit, use a telephone.
  • Occasionally light/fine grasping, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, writing by hand.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May require travel and occasional work during evenings and/or weekends.

  • When conducting university business, must comply with the California Vehicle Code and Stanford University driving requirements.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations.
  • Promote Culture of Safety: Demonstrates commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicates safety concerns; uses and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.
