What You’ll Bring:
We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, creative, and collaborative. This job requires the ability to draft engaging, readable communication products based on information gathered from the SCEC and RAPID teams, working with speed and precision to deliver timely written materials. The SCEC is a hybrid team, with staff working across the United States, so communication skills in a remote environment are critical. A good sense of humor is appreciated (where appropriate) and a strong, dedicated work ethic is a must. Some additional requirements include:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Preferred requirements:
Experience with communicating scientific concepts to lay audiences.
Communications experience for policy, research, non-profit, or academic organizations.
Professional experience or education in early childhood, public health, education, or related fields.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal communications groups across campus.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to synthesize materials and communicate information in a manner easily understood.
- Experience with managing projects to specifications and to meet expected deadlines.
- Ability to perform detailed work with high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred requirements:
- Working knowledge of Drupal CMS, Adobe Creative Suite, and other text and image editing tools.
- Working knowledge of project management tools such as Monday.com, Asana, etc.
- Ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work within established, fast-paced pipeline to deliver communication products (i.e., blogs, fact sheets) under time pressure.
- Demonstrated creativity, problem solving skills, initiative, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and customer service skills.
- Organized and detail oriented.
