The Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) is a newly formed and rapidly growing institute within the Dean of Research. As an independent research institute, HAI’s mission is to advance AI research, education, policy and practice to improve the human condition. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Communications and Event Coordinator will assist with the execution of marketing programs that enable programs, services, events and/or products to meet the business objectives of the Communications team. The coordinator will provide support across events, earned and owned media, email marketing, video production, the HAI website and more. Candidates should be highly organized and resourceful, and able to manage multiple projects in a highly matrixed environment. They must be able to collaborate effectively with the Communication and Events team, and with key stakeholders across and outside of HAI. Candidates must possess excellent attention to detail and follow through. A strong sense of creativity along with the familiarity of marketing principles and tactics is strongly preferred, as well as excellent written and verbal skills. Candidates should have initiative and be capable of learning on the fly. The Communications and Event Coordinator will have opportunities to gain experience across a range of marketing disciplines and projects and to grow and develop in HAI’s fast-paced environment.

 

We are hiring one (1), full time (100% FTE), fixed-term position for two (2) years, which is renewable based on programmatic need and funding. All final candidates must complete a background check.  Please submit a resume and cover letter with your application.

 

 CORE DUTIES:

  • Assist with marketing plans/programs to meet business objectives, including coordinating with internal stakeholders.
  • Draft, edit, and schedule select marketing communications for a variety of channels (i.e., web, print, email, online).
  • Monitor, track and report marketing program effectiveness.
  • Review and report post-event/program/campaign data.
  • Assist in quality control of data and marketing materials.
  • Support the planning and execution of events.
  • Support the creation and launch of tools and processes to improve marketing efforts.
  • Contribute to vendor selection, arrangements, and scheduling.
  • Coordinate vendor estimates and invoice processing.
  • Develop an understanding of organization's major programs, services, events, and products.
  • Provide administrative support to marketing team.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Solid understanding of marketing and communication principles and tactics.
  • Highly organized and creative.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
  • Demonstrated team player.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, speaking.
  • Occasionally grasp forcefully, writing by hand.
  • Rarely sort/file paperwork.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional work on evenings and weekends.
