The Senior Network Engineer reports to the Director, Communications Technologies within the Stanford University IT, IT Infrastructure organization. This position is a member of a team, which has the responsibility to provide technology innovation, architecture, design, engineering, deployment, and operations for the Unified Communications (Voice, Video, Messaging, and Contact Center) demands across the Stanford community.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 The CT Senior Network Engineering position focuses on the innovation, architecture, design, engineering, deployment, along with representing escalation tier support for the shared networking infrastructure for the Unified Communications applications and services deployed across Stanford University and Healthcare environments.

 

Maintain documentation and diagrams for all L3/L2 related technologies and ensure that information is always current. Be accountable and responsible for providing up-to-date documentation and standards for the ongoing administration and operational support of Stanford’s UC shared networking infrastructure.

 

The Senior Network Engineering position will serve in an essential mentoring and training capacity for network operations engineers, in addition to being tier escalation support for them. This position will also play a collaborative role and participate in weekly CT team meetings to ensure synergy and awareness of all CT initiatives that fall outside the scope but may impact their direct responsibilities.

 

Provide presentations to upper management, peers, and clients as it pertains to the innovation, architecture, design, engineering, deployment, and operations of UC networking.

 

This position is expected to participate in 24/7 On-Call rotation.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, or related technology field, and eight years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. In-depth experience in large-scale network design, implementation, analysis, and project management

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position is expected to have in-depth knowledge and experience with:

 

·       Demonstrate familiarization and advanced, extensive hands-on experience with the following:

  • Cisco Routing & Switching
  • Cisco Firewall
  • Cisco 9000 Nexus switches
  • Protocols: BGP, SIP, OSPF, etc.

 

DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • CCNA, CCNP
  • CCIE Routing & Switching
  • ITIL Practices

 

ADDITIONAL FAMILIARIZATION AND EXPERIENCE INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • Strong written and oral communication skills: proven presentation experience and comfort with senior management audiences and effective facilitation skills with diverse groups.
  • Very strong customer service and consulting skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and get the work done on schedule.

The expected pay range for this position is $143,000 to $180,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
