Stanford Law School’s Robert Crown Law Library seeks a collaborative and creative Collection Strategist Librarian to join the team. The Collection Strategist Librarian is responsible for management of the library’s interlibrary loan efforts, including, but not limited to: providing effective and efficient interlibrary loan service for patrons and other libraries; promoting within the SLS community the use of historical and unique materials held by other libraries; performing research to locate library materials requested; arranging loans of materials to and from other institutions, and coordinating returns materials to lending institution; interacting closely with other institutions, requiring knowledge of the interlibrary loan protocols and policies of other institutions; accountability for borrowed and lent materials. This position requires attention to detail and application of the latest trends in technology and library services.
The Collection Strategist Librarian also supports stewardship of the research collection, identifies historic gaps and areas for strategic growth, and explores non-custodial partnerships. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Access Services, the position coordinates collection development activities including overseeing the drafting and updating of the collection development policy and leading efforts to promote the diversification of research and collections. Responsible areas include selection, weeding, budgeting, accessibility and working with vendors.
The Collection Strategist Librarian will:
Actively participate in developing library policies, as well as facilitating collaboration between the Stanford Law Library and Stanford University Libraries with regard to collection development
Serve on library committees and stay current with developments at all Stanford University libraries
Collaborate with other library teams to interpret collections through exhibitions, publications and programming
Create associations with lending libraries, archives, publishers, and vendors
Review, maintain, and recommend development of new consortial partnerships or revisions to existing ones
Monitors library and publishing trends, best practices in collection management, and developments in the profession; shares knowledge and makes recommendations for improvements
Utilizes collection analysis tools and interlibrary loan (ILL) management systems, and leverages technological advancements in library services for high-level performance.
Creates collection reports to support collection management
This position also plays a critical role in connecting library patrons to collections. The Collection Strategist Librarian:
Manages interlibrary loan services and coordinates document delivery services of research materials
Supports faculty, students, and researchers seeking historical and archival legal materials, located both at Stanford and elsewhere
In conjunction with the Research & Instructional Services team, assists faculty, students, and researchers to make effective use of the Stanford library collections, particularly historical and archival legal materials
Represents the Robert Crown Law Library at professional conferences and stays informed about changes and trends in the field
Engages in other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment; excellent organizational, time-management, and analytical skills; and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other library departments and campus communities
Strong project management skills
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to meet inflexible deadlines
Experience with interlibrary loan services and systems
Experience with or demonstrated interest in collection weeding and shifting
Ability to demonstrate initiative and flexibility
Commitment to promoting community and belonging, and access in building, maintaining, and delivering library collections and services
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution or an equivalent degree
Experience working with historical or legal archival collections, including selection, analysis, and assessment
Familiarity with collection analysis tools and metrics
Engagement with emerging technologies and trends in digital humanities
Experience working on library or archival digitization projects
Demonstrated understanding or interest in intellectual property, copyright, and privacy issues as they relate to library collections
Experience supervising staff or student workers
Working knowledge of a foreign language
Working Conditions
May work extended hours, evenings and weekends.

The pay transparency range is: $81,546 to $98,456 per annum.
