MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  •  MA or MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited graduate school is required or equivalent in training and experience.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant experience with supervisory experience, preferably in a university or research institution.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience of administration of a building access control system.
  • Demonstrated record of innovation in developing, implementing or promoting library services.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  •  Substantial knowledge of and experience with circulation services and ILS database, preferably SirsiDynix Symphony Integrated Library Systems and ability.
  • Substantial knowledge of the academic information ecosystem, including current trends and issues.
  • Working knowledge of technologies for workplace administration, library applications and public computing.
  • Substantial knowledge of customer service principles and demonstrated experience with working with diverse clientele in a busy service-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative in fostering new ideas and implementing change.
  • Experience with implementing new technology and automation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Persuasive and thorough communication.
  • Ability to manage resources and staff effectively.
  • Ability to build and maintain teams and positive workplace culture, and foster an environment of diversity and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational skills, proven problem-solving ability, and flexibility.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

 Physical Requirements*:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sitting, grasping lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.
  •  Occasionally writing by hand, use of a telephone.
  • Rarely push and maneuver a fully-loaded cart weighing up to 650 pounds that requires an initial push force up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  •  Occasional extended hours and weekends.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
  • May be exposed to dust and mold from some library collections.
