Job Purpose
The Assistant Director of Outreach and Operations will lead and manage the strategic development and operational execution of career services for Biosciences trainees at Stanford, including PhD and MS students postdoctoral trainees and occasionally MD students. This role aims to enhance career success by building strong employer partnerships, creating industry-specific educational programs, and facilitating opportunities for trainees to connect with alumni and employers. The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing key programs like the BioSci Careers Ambassador Program and the Career Exploration Opportunities Internship Program, while ensuring alignment with university policies and best practices. By analyzing data, coordinating outreach, and managing day-to-day operations, the Assistant Director strives to improve communication, outreach efficacy, and overall program impact, fostering a supportive environment for trainees' professional development and success.
This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting from the Bay Area (hybrid of working 2-3 days on-site), subject to operational need.
Core Duties
Independently implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day activities of the unit, function or program by identifying and executing tasks and objectives, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and assigning resources to achieve the goals of the program.
Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program or function.
Analyze and interpret policies; develop, revise and implement procedures for program or function.
Represent the program or function as the key contact and subject matter expert within the department, unit or school. Commit resources and provide information and/or training. May also represent the program or function to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include developing communications and training, planning/promoting events and/or conferences.
May participate in development of budgets, monitor, and approve expenditures. May perform limited forecasting and provide recommendations that determine the budget.
May direct staff to perform various tasks and assignments. May also supervise staff.
Education & Experience (Required)
Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

History of successfully managing the day-to-day operations of an office within a university setting
An understanding of the core competencies required within various biosciences fields and how to best communicate fit within these
Strengths coaching certification and a dedication to advancing the needs of graduate-level trainees in the biosciences
Experience building collaboration-focused educational courses, workshops, and programs
Familiarity with standard career-technologies (VMock, Handshake, etc.)
Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.

The expected pay range for this position is $99,015 to $105,000 per annum.
