To be successful in this position, you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant work experience, or combination of education and relevant experience
- Demonstrated ability to provide career education that includes a diversity of identities and perspectives, that opens access to a range of opportunities, and that empowers students to integrate meaning and purpose while developing their career paths.
- Organizational abilities—able to keep track and report on multiple projects, exhibit judgment that is informed by research, integrates department and division priorities, and improves programming and services for Frosh/Soph students.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of campus partners and external partners including parents, alumni, and employers.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching/advising and training, especially for students in higher education.
- Use creativity, curiosity, and the ability to use concepts such as design thinking principles (e.g., ideating and prototyping) to advance student development, and to strengthen programs and services for students, and to advance commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion in coaching, programming, and services.
In addition, preferred qualifications include:
- Master’s degree in Education, Student Affairs, or related field is preferred
- Entrepreneurial and innovative spirit; comfort with change, ambiguity, and risk
- Sense of humor and enthusiasm for working with first year and second year students
- Deep understanding of career education related concepts and core practices such as, job searching, networking, developing resumes and cover letters, career exploration, economic trends, and building meaning into career exploration.
- Familiarity with career assessments such as the MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, and CliftonStrengths
- Demonstrated passion and aptitude for cultivating connections, program development and execution, group facilitation and engagement
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply diversity-related concepts including equity, inclusion, access, underrepresented and marginalized communities, allyship, power and privilege, social justice and identity development.
Working Conditions:
- Able to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
- This is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days of onsite work.
