The successful
candidate must have one year of applicable animal care experience in a research
or animal laboratory setting; prefer certification at the AALAS technician
level or equivalent training; familiarity with NIH and U.S.D.A. guidelines.
Must possess mechanical ability, manual dexterity, and personal standards of
cleanliness, neatness and organizational ability. Must be able to read, write,
understand, communicate and follow written and oral instructions provided in
English. Must be capable of properly handling and restraining all species of
common laboratory animals, have no abnormal fear of any common laboratory
species and should be free of animal-related allergies. The candidate selected for this position will
complete an Occupational Health Surveillance Questionnaire and may be required
to undergo a physical examination and immunizations. Must be willing and able
to lift 50 pounds. Must observe and support good health and safety practices
regarding the use of chemicals and equipment.
